Paediatric colorectal surgery treats congenital and acquired problems of the large bowel, rectum and anus in children. Some of these conditions are detected at birth, while others appear later as constipation, bleeding or soiling.
The aim is not only to correct the anatomy but to help the child achieve good bowel control and a normal social life. Staged operations, bowel management and long-term follow-up are planned together with the family.

- Perianal abscess
- Chronic constipation needing surgical evaluation

Warning signs:
- Delay in passing first stool (meconium) after birth
- Severe constipation with abdominal distension
- Blood with stool
- Something coming out through the anus during straining
- Soiling or poor bowel control in an older child
