Tumours in children are different from those in adults. Many are curable when diagnosed early and treated with a planned combination of surgery and, when needed, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Surgery is planned with the paediatric oncology team so that the tumour is removed safely while preserving as much normal function as possible.
Tumours we treat:
- Wilms’ tumour (nephroblastoma)
- Neuroblastoma
- Hepatoblastoma and other liver tumours
- Sacrococcygeal and other teratomas
- Lymphangioma / cystic hygroma
- Haemangioma and vascular malformations
- Ovarian and testicular tumours
- Soft tissue tumours
- Lymph node biopsy
Do not ignore:
- A lump or swelling in the abdomen
- A swelling in the neck, back or limbs that keeps growing
- Unexplained weight loss, fever or paleness
- Blood in urine
